Sweet Sound of Success at The GRAMMY™ Awards.

  Back To All

After a seven-year struggle to add the Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album as an official GRAMMY category, this momentous goal and landmark in Louisiana history was accomplished at the 2008 GRAMMY awards. Due to the distinctly Louisiana nature of the music, and the fact that most of the nominees in this category would be from Louisiana, the Louisiana Office of Tourism wanted to showcase the wealth of Louisiana culture in the other L.A. during GRAMMY week. Cue DEVENEY.

To celebrate, DEVENEY organized a brunch event “Only in Louisiana: A Celebration of Music, Culture and Business” in L.A. It was recognized as an official Recording Academy event in conjunction with the GRAMMY awards week. In partnership with Louisiana Economic Development, the Louisiana Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, and under the auspices of the Louisiana Office of Tourism, DEVENEY planned, staffed and maintained budget for this Louisiana showcase. We arranged performances by Louisiana musicians and GRAMMY nominees Wilson Savoy Trio, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie and Donald Harrison. Food was prepared by the John Besh Restaurant Group and included such staples as: Chicken and Andouille Gumbo, Grits and Grillades, Shrimp Remoulade and Bananas Foster Bread Pudding.
